Allen Mills motioned to remove “or State Finals Trial” from his original motion, seconded by Herbert Holmes.
The motion now read “A Ranch Handler may earn no more than 105 points before being required to move to a higher class. Points will be assigned to handlers beginning with those earned in the 2011 trial year. Open Ranch Handlers may run a dog in the Ranch Class, however that dog is not eligible for Triple Crown &Dog of the Year.  Motion passed.

A petition was presented to the board of directors from cattle dog members at the Board of Directors meeting  Nov. 19, 2011 at Stephenville Tx. requesting separations from TSDA.. It was tabled to be discussed on TSDA forum.   After a lengthy discussion Herbert Holmes motioned, 12/1/11. The motion did not receive a second.
1. The TCDA group pay for any expenses incurred to get this done.
2. Allow them to have the name of Texas Cattle Dog Assc.
3. Hold $600 from the balance of the Cattle Dog Fund. This is to help pay for the new website. The construction  was started before the separation request & it was planned to use this amount from the cattle account.
4. Make any by-law changes for the TSDA to reflect that we no longer have a cattle dog association.
5. Release funds only to a non-profit set up by the new cattle dog association.
 Mary Calder motioned to deny the request.  Herbert Holmes withdraw his motion made on 12-1.and seconded Mary’s
motion.  Motion passed.

11/19/2011                           TSDA  Directors   Meeting

 

All Members present except Herbert Holmes

 

Meeting was call to order @ 8:55 pm.  Read the minutes of the previous meeting of 11/20/2010,  Allen Mills

motion except minutes as written, 2nd by Mary Calder,  approved.

 

Motion by Allen Mills to take Two Thousand dollars out of checking account to add to the sheepdog finals.

2nd by Gary Young, approved.

 

Motion by Roger Schroeder to accept treasures report, 2nd by Chris, approved.

 

Directors agreed to use Jerry Lynch as judge of the 2012  Ft. Worth Stockshow.

 

Directors discussed where to have 2012 Sheepdog Finals, tabled until later date.

 

E.B. & Francis Raley will be over the Sheepdog Stockshow this comming year.

Herbert Holmes motioned, allow a ranch or open ranch handler to drop an open dog down to the ranch class. Run the dog for the points currently allowed for moving a dog down a class. When the open dog that was dropped to the ranch class is moved up to the open ranch, it can only earn 16 points and is not eligible for end of the year awards.  Seconded by Jo Anne Noble

      On December 22 Herbert Holmes notified the Board of Directors his plans to resign as president of TSDA by the end of 2010.  He will remain as Director of TSDA.  Red Oliver chose not to serve as President.  E.B. Raley put his name forward as president,  Gary Payne nominated Steve Rhidenour as president.  On January 1 E.B. Raley took his name out of contention for president of TSDA.  Herbert called for a vote.  Steve Rhidenour will serve as President of TSDA beginning Jan 1.

Kay Stephens motioned, the TSDA nursery dog age rule will be the same as USBCHA, with dogs turning 3 by July 1 ineligible to run in the nursery class after August 1. The exceptions to this rule are 1) any Triple Crown Trial occurring after August 1, and 2) the TSDA finals trial. Overage nursery dogs may compete in these trials in a separate class from age eligible nursery dogs, seconded by Herbert Holmes.  Motion passed.

Herbert Holmes motioned for the Nursery dog of year points count from the first day of August thru the last day of July, the following year, with the exception of the first TSDA finals nursery class that falls after the Nursery dogs eligibility has run out. those points will count for dog of the year. At time of the TSDA finals nursery trial, we can have a USBCHA eligible nursery trial which will not count towards the previous years nursery dog of the year, seconded by Kay Stephens.  Motion passed

Gary Payne motioned to open up the TSDA Finals trial to all dogs and all handlers by creating a "trial within a trial" and in order to facilitate this change we need to delete all rules currently in place in regard to the sheep finals (refer to Rules Section IV-H), seconded by Kay Stephens.

Rule committee was formed to review the issue of handlers entering TSDA trials, especially novice class, from other venue, (e.g.: AKC, ASCA, AHBA, etc). The committee members were; Red Oliver, Francis Raley, Ron Burkey, Joy Hall, Geri Abrahms, Catherine Laria, Sheryl McDonald, Terri Nicolau, Jo Anne Noble, Chairperson.

After reviewing the rules of the different herding venues, they propose the current change to the novice rule (underlined):

2. HANDLER
A Novice handler is any person that has not competed in any venue in the world, at any level, with any stock higher than beginner/started level. In the TSDA rules this is any handler that has not competed in Ranch, Open Ranch, Nursery or the Open class world wide.

3. DOG
A Novice dog is any dog that has not competed in any venue in the world, at any level, with any stock higher than beginner/started level. In the TSDA rules this is any dog that has not competed in Ranch, Open Ranch, Nursery or the Open class world wide.
