TEXAS SHEEPDOG ASSOCIATION

B/D MEETING, HILL COLLEGE  AUG. 10, 2002

HILLSBORO, TX.

 Directors present:            E.B. Raley, Red Oliver, Carl Larsen, Francis Raley, Chris Thomson, Jimmy Walker, Richard Belvin, Wayne Elmore

Director not present:            Leo Woodbury

1.      President, E.B. Raley, called meeting to order at 10:10 AM.

2.      Carl Larsen moved to accept the minutes of previous meeting, second by Jimmy Walker. Unanimously passed.

3.      Francis Raley presented the treasurer's report - checking account balance $1,708.09, savings account $6,883.15.  Francis reported that TSDA had received two promotional checks from ABCA - $320 for the Cattledog Finals and $725 for the Sheepdog Finals.  TSDA is very appreciative for the support that ABCA provides of the association. 

4.      First on the agenda was finalizing the format for the 2002 Championship & End of the Year trial.

ü      Friday, Open class will begin at 7:00 AM.  After 10 - 15 runs stock will be moved to novice field and Open Ranch will run followed by Ranch, Novice.  Open Ranch should be on site Friday morning, Ranch/Novice by noon. 

ü      E.B. will chair the Finals Committee with the help of Red Oliver, Danny Monzingo and Judy White.

ü      Several names were presented as possible "set out" crew, E.B. will contact those person and report to the Directors.

ü      All entry fees are $30.00 with $25.00 pay back to premiums.  Added premium money is $3,000 - TSDA $2,000 - Big Lake  $1,000.

ü      Rules changes:  Rule No. 41 - Finals Trial, moved by Richard Belvin, second by Carl Larsen. Unanimously passed.

Rule # 41

ü      C-1:  75 entries or less - two (2) go-rounds plus finals.  Open class will be a double lift.

ü      C-2:  76 to 100 entries - two (2) go-rounds, combined scores, no finals in Open Ranch, Ranch, Novice, Nursery.  Open (only) a 40% run back double lift finals, clean slate.

ü      C-3:  101 to 125 - one (1) go-round, plus 40% run back in all classes.  Open Finals will be a double lift.

5.      The cattledog rules was opened for discussion.  Jimmy Walker moved to instate "Dog of the Year" & Lifetime points beginning with the 2002 cattledog season, Jan. 1, 2002, second by Chris Thomson. Unanimously passed.  Same point system will be used as the sheepdog point system.

6.      Jimmy Walker moved that the Cattledog Finals "Dog of the Year" points will count to determine the years D/Y awards, second by Chris Thomson.  Motion Passed - one no vote, Francis Raley.

7.      Jimmy Walker moved to be eligible for the 2002 State Cattledog Finals dog must have run in one (1) 2002 TSDA approved cattledog trial, second by Chris Thomson. Unanimously passed.

8.      Rule for Pro Novice class, any cattledog that has not run in Cattledog Open or Nursery class.   Jimmy Walker moved that when a Pro-Novice cattledog receives 23 points he must advance to the Open class or (if eligible) to Nursery class, second by Chris Thomson.  Unanimously passed.

9.       Jimmy Walker moved - if a handler/dog has not competed in an Open or Nursery cattledog class since May 31, 2002 they are eligible to compete in pro-novice, second by Red Oliver. Unanimously passed. 

10.  Jimmy Walker had spoken with a potential sponsor for the Cattledog Finals in Abilene, Nov. 23-24, 2002.  This is only in the preliminary stage, the Directors gave their approval for him to continue with this lead.  Jimmy will be reporting back to the B/D as information is gathered.

11.  Jimmy Walker moved to gather information on Director's Liability insurance, second by Carl Larsen. Unanimously passed.  Francis will get this information and report back to the Directors.

12.  Meeting adjourned at 3:10 PM.
